They have all their gear but can now collect more etc.
They go back to what they know, yet it's new. People love seeing a new fresh thing, but then WoW expansions release and they all flock back. They release it so close to a WoW expansion, while trying to push themselves as a WoW killer. It was the same for Warhammer online (Also great game) and Rift, Aion etc. The release date (Hence the above wall of text) Many MMO's do this one stupid thing over and over and they all failed in the end. Obvious one thing, but Carbine did a terrible, terrible job here. Playing the pre-release was FANTASTIC and everyone said nothing but good things about the game, but the official release killed it for multiple reasons. Wildstar died in its first 4 days of launch and the damage was done IMO. Yet, the majority of people in WoW complain, they complain they sit around in Ironforge all day, or Blizz keeps nerfing their characters, or they do the same shit day in day out etc, especially after 4-5 months of an expansion. It has the content but most of all, most players have a connection to WoW, their friends, their many characters and high level ones etc.everything thinks "they" are the god in WoW and few want to start fresh. That might seem insignificant, but in the end, it isn't, Warcraft will always have the advantage. I do not blame Blizzard for that of course, but it was the same for everything, a new MMO would appear and Blizz would rip it off, usually worse (I think the same for Wildstar, when the expansion released in WoW they suddenly added double jumps for a class) but people would think Blizzard came up with it, and that WoW had something others didn't. For example, WHO had the Tomb of knowledge, it was an incredible "achievement" system with Lore, rewards, bestiary etc (kill 10 of x, get a potion, kill 100 of x get a belt, kill 1000 get a pet etc) and the beta to WoTLK never had the achievements (I think it was wotlk it's so long ago, but whatever expansion brought it) and the game was released, suddenly they had achievements. The sad thing is, Blizzard kept "stealing" idea's from other MMO's and people would think they were the pioneers. While I continued to play WoW it was because I wanted to play an MMO, but I kept trying others (hundreds in fact) and I found love in many, Warhammer online, Aion, GW etc.but most always ended up the same, becoming lonely as people went back to warcraft. When WoTLK came (which many regard as the best, but I think because it was their first) it ruined the game for me as that was the long path of becoming dumbed down and bad decision one after another. I was a big MMO player for years, I started way before Warcraft but my first one I got truly hooked on was FFXI, then played WoW when it released (but always had love for FFXI) and TBC was the best expansion for me. I'm sure this has been discussed to death, but I stopped following Wildstar because it genuinely made me sad for it to die. I think it had little to do with the game itself.
